Staff Packing & Transportation Information
We are thrilled to have you on Team Winadu for Summer 2025! Below you will find the most up-to-date information regarding staff arrival, transportation, packing, and training information.

Staff Travel to Camp
**Please check your summer employment contract for your exact arrival date before planning your travel to camp**
PRE-CAMP TRAVEL
For staff arriving prior to June 16th (including pre-camp maintenance, area & specialists training)
Pre-Camp Maintenance
Arrival dates: May 1st, May 15th & May 29th
Area Training (inc. Lifeguards, Ropes & Specialists)
Arrival dates: June 11th, June 12th & June 14th
Below are options to help you with your travel to camp:
OPTION 1: If you are flying directly to camp from within North or South America, please book your flights into either the Albany, New York (ABL) or Hartford, Connecticut (BDL) airports. We will pick you up from either airport. Please make sure your incoming flight lands before 6pm. Please then complete the STAFF TRAVEL FORM.
OPTION 2: If you are arriving by bus or train, the Winadu team will pick you up at the either the Pittsfield, Springfield or Albany Bus or Train Stations upon your arrival. Please check both websites as the schedules are updated often: www.amtrak.com or www.greyhound.com. We highly recommend purchasing tickets online in advance. Please make sure your transportation arrives no later than 6pm into your final destination.
International Staff Arrival - June 15th ONLY
This option only applies to INTERNATIONAL STAFF arriving on JUNE 15th.
Please plan on flying into JFK Airport in New York. We will be offering a coach bus service directly to Camp Winadu. Please be at the Comfort Inn JFK Airport Hotel by 4:30pm EST. A Winadu staff member will meet you in the hotel lobby and check you in for the bus. The bus will depart promptly at 5:00pm EST. The hotel is a 5 min Uber or taxi ride away.

As soon as you complete your travel plans, please complete the STAFF TRAVEL FORM.
JUNE 16th ARRIVAL
All staff MUST be at camp by 4pm. As soon as you complete your travel plans, please complete the STAFF TRAVEL FORM. Completing the travel form allows us to arrange picking you up at the airport or bus.
DRIVING TO CAMP: If you are driving to camp, you should arrive no later than 3:00pm. GPS Address is: 700 Churchill Street, Pittsfield, MA
JUNE 16TH TRAVEL OPTIONS:

We will pick you up from either airport. Please make sure your incoming flight lands before 3pm, this will give us enough time to have you at camp in time for dinner. As soon as you complete your travel plans, please complete the STAFF TRAVEL FORM.
OPTION 2: If you are arriving by bus or train the Winadu team will pick you up at the either the Pittsfield or Albany Bus or Train Stations upon your arrival. Please check both websites as the schedules are updated often: www.amtrak.com or www.greyhound.com. We highly recommend purchasing tickets online in advance. You should plan to arrive no later than 2pm.
OPTION 3: For any staff member who is planning on flying into NYC or Boston but can not make any connecting bus or train that arrives before 4pm, please plan on arriving on June 15th and follow the PRE-CAMP TRAVEL section above.

TRAVEL RECEIPTS & REIMBURSEMENT:
All staff must submit travel receipts upon confirming your travel to camp to Mike at [email protected]. Please make sure you keep a copy for your own records.

WEATHER AND CLOTHING: Most days are warm, it can be chilly during the early morning hours and evenings. It is necessary to bring warm clothes and a light jacket, and rain gear (raincoat and rain boots) are strongly recommended.
TOWELS: Please DO NOT pack towels. Winadu will provide all towels for the Pool, Showers and Lake.
PROGRAM EQUIPMENT: It is important for staff to bring items that pertain to their individual program. Baseball counselors should bring their gloves, tennis instructors should bring their rackets etc. If you have something special that would enhance your program area please bring it with you. We can provide safe storage of any valuable equipment you would like to bring to teach your area. Staff must wear appropriate attire when instructing activities (ie. sports instructors must wear sneakers, all waterfront staff must wear bathing suits).
SPECIAL EVENTS: You may want to bring some clothing for our special events. Special Events at Winadu include our Friday Night Campership, Color War and more. We recommend you bring blue and white clothing for these events.
APPROPRIATE ATTIRE: Staff are prohibited from wearing clothing that promotes drugs, alcohol, smoking or profanity. Earrings may not to be worn by male staff on campgrounds. Belly, nose, brow, and/or tongue rings are not permitted. Staff will be asked to have their facial hair neatly trimmed or clean shaven throughout the summer. All Lifeguards working at either the pool or the lake must wear swimwear appropriate to a work environment.
MAILING INSTRUCTIONS: Staff Members can send their bedding and/or other items 2 weeks prior to their arrival date at camp (clearly label the box with your name). Staff who need to ship baggage should do so via UPS/FedEx.

LAUNDRY: Winadu provides a full laundry service. Your laundry will be picked up weekly and returned the next day. Alternatively, you can do your laundry on your day off at public facilities in town.
FOOTWEAR: All staff must wear socks and sneakers, or proper footwear associated with their sport. Flip Flops/Slides are only permitted at the lake and pool.
NOTE: International Staff will have the option to purchase a basic bedding set consisting of: 1 pillow, 2 pillow cases, 2 fitted bed sheets & a light weight fleece blanket. Sleeping bags may not be used as your primary bedding. We also offer trips to Walmart during the Staff Training Week where you will be able to buy more extensive bedding if you wish.
STAFF SHIRTS: All staff receive 3 Winadu T-Shirts to be worn every Saturday and Sunday. Staff shirts are also required when leaving camp for any Tournaments or Events.
IMPORTANT MEDICAL INFORMATION: All prescription and non-prescription medications must be checked-in upon arrival with our medical team. Please be sure that all medications are clearly labeled. Medications will be stored in our health center all summer.
